As we prepare to post the results lets take a look at last years results.
Kenya Certificate for Primary Education 2012 results were released on Monday, 28th January 2013 by Kenya’s Education Minister Mutula Kilonzo. Here’s a look the KCPE 2012 results.
KCPE 2012 Results and Analysis
The Top Students – First 11
KCPE 2012 saw a first place tie between three candidates. Kinoti Joy Kathure tied with Mwaura Boniface and Wachira Njomo, both from Kiambu county, in the first place with 430 marks. They were followed by Muteti Kelvin Mwangangi and Kindiki Dan Muthomi with 429. Shalom Nthenya Mulinge was number six with 428 marks. She was followed by another three-person tie of Kanji Bhanderi Nikun, Maina Douglas Gichohi and Gitamo Audrey Kemunto with 427 marks. Positions 10 and 11 were Muriga Veronica Wairimu and Shihemi Kelvin Witila who also tied with 426 marks. The First 11 included 7 boys and 4 girls.Gender Parity
A total of 811,930 candidates sat for the KCPE 2012 exams. As compared to KCPE 2011 results, 2012 noted an increase in number for girls taking the exam by 20,910. This is the largest increase in female candidates sitting for KCPE since back in 2004. The number of boys sitting for the exam also increased by 14,806. Among the Top male candidates there were only 2, out of the first 12, from Nairobi county while among the Top Female candidates, 6 out of the first 12 were from Nairobi county.Top Schools in KCPE 2012
The first two best performing primary schools were from Nairobi county: Newlight Komarock and Makini Ngong Road Academy. Gilgil Hills Academy – Nakuru county, Marell Academy – Bungoma county, Fred’s Academy – Meru county and Chelsa Academy, Bomet county were in the top 5 schools. KCPE 2012 saw a large reduction in exam irregularities by a more than 7000 cases, as compared to 2011 (from KCPE 2011‘s 7,967 cases to 2012′s 718 cases). Education Minister Mutula Kilonzo attributed this to the enactment of the new law Kenya National Examinations Council Act, 2012 which carries stiff penalties for cheating in exams. To check the results for K.C.P.E class of 2011 online, go to the K.N.E.C website: http://www.knec-results.ac.ke/ and enter your Index number.
To check your K.C.P.E (class of 2011) results by SMS send an SMS with your Index Number to 5052 for Safaricom, Airtel and Orange networks.
